Holiday Wishes from Down Under

As an Australian it always seems a little bit odd to me that a phrase I had assumed were universal, like "Merry Christmas" gets translated as "Happy Holidays".

I mean, this phrase is something WE in Australia should be claiming as our own, as Christmas is summertime Down Under, life is truly a beach and many of us take quite a few weeks or even a whole month of holiday vacation around this time. Now that is what I call “Happy Holidays”!

No matter our difference in language, phrases or customs across the world, if we play online games or MMO's, everyone that attends LOGIN shares the same sense of community, a gathering of creative, business and technical people that help shape online and virtual worlds for a greater community of worldwide players.

LOGIN for me has become a family that gets together once a year. Like any family, each year we talk about our adventures, commiserate on the disappointments and encourage each other to continue to reach out for our dreams and not let difficult times extinguish the passion.

Christmas is a time to reflect on our blessings, a time to rejoice in our friendships and for many, to be with our loved ones.

Spare a prayer for all the troops overseas defending our way of life, and for some of our fellow industry folks that are struggling through these uncertain times.

The Advisory Board members have been asked what they might wish to find under their Christmas tree this year.

For me, it's no travel and good book I can take to the beach!

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Down Under.

What Do You Want for Christmas?

As we approach the final stretch of the holiday season for 2008, we look back and consider what we're grateful for — and yes, what good little things we might find in out life before the end of the year. In that holiday spirit, we asked our LOGIN Conference advisors what they might hope to receive this holiday season. Could it be a new Jaguar sports coupe, a house in the Hamptons, winning the lottery or maybe world peace and ending world hunger? You'll have to read on to find our advisors' answers to this great question of our time.
