Spoon-Feeding Cloud Gaming to Gamers
Spoon, after five years as a business, has launched its Spoon Cloud Gaming Service, with 200 games and thousands of apps. Unlike its more demanding competition (OnLive and Gaikai), which requires a blazing-fast connection and a high-powered computer on the user's end, Spoon needs only to install a small plug-in for the browser to enable Flash-enabled games downloaded through its service. Games are light, small, and can even be played offline. They also can be explored through trial play before a one-time per-game fee kicks in. On the game publisher side, Spoon is working with Namco Networks, Alawar Entertainment, iWin, and 1C.

EA's Battlefield Developers Commit to Multiplayer and the PC Platform
Electronic Art's DICE, the developer behind the Battlefield shooter game franchise, has resolved the questions whether Battlefield 3 will be more focused on single-player or the multiplayer game dynamic, whether the PC version will be neglected or not. In an interview with Shacknews, DICE's General Manager Karl Magnus Troedssen said, "I would argue our games, this game and the other games we've worked on with single-player, that the core of the game is online. That's where the franchise was born, and it's going to keep being like that." On the platform focus, Troedssen added, "PC gamers are probably the most hardcore players we have out there. Sure, online gameplay has been on the rise on the Xbox 360 and PS3. There are a lot of hardcore online players there, too. But on PC? That's our core audience." Battlefield 3 will be launching this fall on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
